This source is a biography of Grigory Rasputin, who played a very big role in the lives of the Romanovs. He was a trusted advisor of Nicholas and very close to the rest of the family, especially Alexandra and Alexei. The tsar's family defended him against many of the nobles who hated him. Shortly before his death, he predicted both his own murder and the fall of the Romaonv dynasty.

Nicholas took over after his father's death and married the woman he'd been in love with for years- a German princess named Alix of Hesse. Many people say that his reign was doomed from the start since hundreds of people were trampled to death on the day of his coronation. Although Nicholas' rule was riddled with tragedies, he did his best to keep control of the dissatisfied people of Russia.

The Bolshevik party was the driving force behind Nicholas II's abdication of the throne. They formed in 1902 with the goal of causing a revolution, which they eventually accomplished fifteen years later, in 1917.
